A little bit more about myself
Photography, painting & video
I have always had a creative streak in me, whether drawing, painting or photography. From my days at university studying for an art degree, to rediscovering a love of photography thanks to digital cameras, to my more recent love of making videos for YouTube, I like to be immersed in creating something. What I need is to focus on doing one thing well. So Carta Graphica is just that, me accepting that my creative needs can be focused on maps.
Photography
I have also loved photography but never pursued it. Why? I don’t know. Sometimes when you enjoy something as a hobby it should remain just that. The act of thinking you can earn a living out of it can crush the very enjoyment you get. Or maybe it is just that I never found a way to make it work. Anyway, for now photography is just a hobby and I share this on Instagram.

Videos
I started a YouTube channel with my son. I am not entirely sure why we did but I think it was partly born out of a curiosity to crack the YouTube algorithm. You see, I used to post silly home videos of my son when he was little. Badly filmed shaky films on a mobile phone with no artistic intent. And then one of these videos went viral getting 50,000 views and I was foolish enough to think I could rinse and repeat the success. Put some effort in and who knows what we could achieve.
To no great surprise, it wasn’t so easy. Turns out we had just got lucky with that first viral video. But we have now achieved some degree of success, and had a lot of fun travelling along the way. Creatively I love the editing process, creating something out of the occasionally chaotic filming.
Drawing & painting
I’d love to say that I have continued painting, having spent all those years studying at university. Sadly this isn’t the case, but I do like to occasionally draw or paint.
